Hi Mark. I found you by way of Adam (PixelHead) and I am glad I stopped by to read this post.

In many ways my life has just begun in the last year although I am 37 yrs old. I have learned more in the last year than I have in 36 prior years. But with that has come an endless cycle of thoughts that tell me "You've got 37 years to catch up on". And we all know there's no way to do that.

I have only recently decided to realize that the things that I hold most dear and most valuable, are the things that my other passions keep at bay. I would rather use my energies to be of service to those I care for than to follow what the 'Jones's' would have me follow for monetary or otherwise superficial gain.

You family. Your REAL friends (not your online buddies that will sell their soul for a link or kudos and hoopla). Your peace of mind. These things are golden. The rest of the world means very little without them.

I guess I am rambling. But your post only validated those resolves for me at a tender time in my life. Thanks for writing it.

@Adam - Thanks for the stumble. I can relate with what you are saying, I remember counting the days until I would get my driver's license and how many long years it would take when I was 14 years old, and now it seems I can't slow down time even if I wanted to... :)

Great post mark, I had to stumble it. I remember being my kids age and thinking how long it would be until I got out of school. Now it just seems like the days fly by with so little notice.

Here's a Heartsill Wilson quote that applies:

"This is the beginning of a new day.
God has given me this day to use as I will.
I can waste it--or use it for good, but what
I do today is important, because I am exchanging
a day of my life for it! When tomorrow comes,
this day will be gone forever, leaving in its
place something that I have traded for it.
I want it to be gain, and not loss; good,
and not evil, success, and not failure;
in order that I shall not regret the
price that I have paid for it."
